Mr. Sterni has been working in the Information Technology (IT) and web development community for over 10 years. Developing or co-developing such tools for USC such as a Technology Catalog, Commercial Assessment Tools, and intranet system. Mr. Sterni has taken several courses in web publishing and information organization when the internet and world wide web was in its infancy. He has consulted on several web site designs and has provided technical assistant to many others. Mr. Sterni has also designed and developed interactive web site, setting up blogs and collaborative and web portals. His work includes database integration using SQL Server and MySQL database and HTML, ASP and PHP web development languages.
Mr. Sterni's IT administrative knowledge includes administration of user accounts and permissions in the windows NT and 2000/2003 server environment and unix systems. Creation of routine backup systems and troubleshooting hardware and software problems. Mr. Sterni has created and have implemented specifications for hardware, software and networking systems for servers and workstations in a production environment. Other duties included serving as liaison to the University of Southern California's Information Services Division (ISD) who maintains the overall university computing and telecommunication systems.
Another notable area of specialization is Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Using the ArcView GIS software, Mr. Sterni has generated maps for several projects for NASA, USC and UCLA .
In his spare time Mr. Sterni is involved in the Andronicus Alumni Association. As treasurer
for over 5 years , his responsibilities include the management and operations of the Chapter house for the Alpha Rho Chi Architecture Fraternity, near the USC campus. He is also actively involved in the restoration and preservation of this historical landmark in Los Angeles.

Projects and Achievements
USC School of Business - N2TEC
Created and maintained web site for National Science Foundation (NSF) project for National Commercialization Network. Supported online real time collaboration tool using Microsoft Sharepoint Technologies. This allowed researchers and student around the country or the world to share documents and communicate in real time with other member. Work with Groxis Inc. to develop data visualization tools to allows user to group information in a variety of ways completely different than traditional search engines. Built custom login and registration application to integrate and streamline creation of user accounts in the Microsoft Sharepoint environment.
Blue Ribbon Task Force on Nanotechnology
At the request of NASA Ames Research center, I developed both a public web site and a collaboration portal for the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Nanotechnology (BRTFN). This 40 member panel was organized by Congressman Mike Honda and California State Controller Steve Westly to promote California and Silicon Valley a National and worldwide center in nanotechnology. Also included a web log (blog) for board member to post current about the area of nanotechnology and the work that they were doing.
Boeing Intellectual Property Business (IPB)
Developed, designed, built web site and technology catalog database for the Boeing IPB group. Designed online web-based application that allowed patent information from Boeing to be extracted from the US Patent and Trademark's office and stored and indexed for searching on their web site. Developed search engine applications for Licensing Manager at Boeing to find technology based on a variety of parameters. Also included the ability to allow administrators to update the site on a regular basis as new patents are issued. Provided a dashboard for administrator to see the most popular patent being viewed and allows user to saved search results.
NASA Ames Office of Technology Partnership
Developed and maintain web site for this NASA office at Ames Research Center. Developed technology catalog as a central point where research and the general public can find out more information about technologies that are available for licensing from NASA Ames. Also created a intranet portal for information for researchers and Partnership Mangers. Other Requirements included Section 508 ADA compliance for disabled user accessibility and guidelines from NASA of consistent style and content management.
Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
GIS involves the ability to take geographic information and generating visual representation of that information for analysis. Using the ArcView GIS software, Mr Sterni generated maps for several projects for NASA including one project, mapping of Technology Incubators in the 8 Western states under a NASA Minority/ Women owned-business grant. The goal of the project was to locate incubators in Federal and State empowerment and enterprise zones and to target these businesses to educate them in technology transfer.
Skills
Video and Digital Film
Technical expertise, knowledge and production of video content for both web site distribution and large scale theater venues. Primary focus is to highlight the Windows video compression technology and how it can replace other digital HD playback system. The system has been exhibited at the Maui Film Festival 2003 & 2004.
