That intersection has always been a dangerous one, even when I was going to school there. Hopefully more street lights or even a reduction in the amount of car traving down that busy street can be done. I read that they are adding other street lights in section where student cross, which is about time... I can;t believe most of area where students cross do not have lights or even crosswalks, given the location of student and the school.

The accident, which occurred at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Hoover Street at 3 a.m. Sunday, left Adrianna Bachan, 18, dead and Marcus Garfinkle, 19, clinging to life. According to witnesses, Garfinkle was carried about 500 feet on the vehicle's windshield before the driver stopped and a passenger removed him from the car. The vehicle then sped off.

Ah emails... Something so simple can turn so crazy. As the article mention below, email accidently went out to all applied to the school...  Being the guy who send out the bulk of the emails for various groups of students I spend alot of time checking, double checking and checking again what I am sending out! (Misspelling creepin there), but gladly I have not sent accepted emails to denied kids, but I can see how that can happen.

Actually we sent out kids to a website that looks up their decision in real-time to aviod confusing like this :-)  But in many cases they do start getting email that are target to admitted student before their letter actually makes it ot the mailbox at home, so I hope in those case it was just an early surprise vs. what I did NOT get in?  Oh man I do not want to be in the shoes of that Admission Director...

He brings up one specific point is that the citizen of the city should buy the team. Say if the team is for sale for $5M and for a simple breakdown, if 50,000 people ponied up $100, that would just about cover it..

Interesting idea, as he points out that the people of the city oven the Green Bay Packers.

Sometime you wonder how we survived it and yet we always do.. As a child of this era, I am curious what the children of thie are think about our crazy youth. Here is a prime example of how life as a child was like when I was little.Out of the list, one of the things I missed it that ride in the back of the pickup..

Anyways I wonder if its the current state of parenting today that requires us to minimize  the risk and to what mean? To not be sued? and if so what will this generation of kids learn if everything is taken care for them?

Anyways.. here a fun list of fact for years gone by.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing...that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

For the last 3 days I made it a point to get around to watch some movies that I've had laying around for awhile. Between BluRays, Netflix and online movies I have to do a better job of keeping up with movies

So Saturday night started with some random documentaries from the Netflix online movies:

No End in Sight  - A documentary to the Iraq war.
The Busines of Being Born - a documentary about pregnancy in America.

Finished the Sunday night more more main stram movies with Wall-E, My Best Friends Girl and House Bunny, and  The Cutting Edge 3

Tonight was Burn after Reading and Lies and Alibis.

Wonder what I will watch tomorrow..

So a couple of months ago I downloaded the Truphone app for the Apple iPod. Its a VOIP phone service.

I know.. many would be like, "why would I download a phone app on a phone?" Well what if you have a device that is wifi, but not a phone? Exactly... it allows you to make calls over the internet. I know it sounds weird, but you know with free/ low cost wifi/wimax service, why not use what you already pay for to make calls?

So in taking a survey about adding a phone numer to the Truphone service (as currently I can call peopel but they can't call me..) the company had this funny video below. I assume it was some sort of catch marketing plan. But since it involve cow I thought I would write abou it...
